THE CURE FOR THE COMMON HANGOVER?

Can it be so? Could there really be an actual cure, and a natural one at that, for the dreaded hangover? There just might be and it comes in the form of natural coconut water. There are myriad remedies for hangovers – from fast food to the hair-of-the-dog –  but do any actually work. After heavy drinking, the body needs its electrolytes replenished. Although Gatorade does a good job at this, it has only 2 of the body’s 5 electrolytes (potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorous). Coconut water, which is the liquid that comes from a baby coconut before it becomes “milk”, is catching on in the sports industry as athletes seek natural methods to rehydrate their bodies. It’s also catching on with the imbibing set. There are several companies now packaging coconut water for sale but the most popular one seems to be Vita Coco which counts Madonna as an investor. The likely next trend in cocktails? Coconut water-tinis.
